Default Carpet dye for faded deck lid mat/floor mats

Well I picked up a Firehawk deck lid/trophy mat with the dreaded blue fading. I have read other threads about people using RIT black dye on their carpets with good results so I picked some up at wally world.
I was getting ready to apply it but got worried it might be too dark and read that our ebony (2001-2002) interiors are slightly grey. This got me thinking I should go with a dark grey dye. I see that Detail King makes a dark grey anda smoke grey that might be a better match.
Does anyone have experience with how any of these colors would go with a ebony interior?

Here is a pic of the mat I will be working on restoring.

What did you end up using and how well did it turn out?

I only got the cleaned up before winter. I think I'm going to try the detail king stuff this spring/summer. I don't know how to keep it off the firehawk logos though.
