Default Almost burnt up my 255 with 10lbs

ive put maybe 200 miles on my 255lph while breaking in the clutch, easy miles since it was untuned.. and the top of the pump is turning white around the connector (originally purple)

I need to upgrade anyways! throwing it out and intalling an aeromotive 340
#11540

I have the racetronix upgraded harness to run this pump BUT do I just splice the red and black wire on this new pump into my original red and black wire on my fuel hat assembly???
^ only asking this because the connector the pump comes with wont plug into my fuel hat directly
thanks!
