If you can shift that thing at 7 k I need to up mine. I shift at around 6500-6700. I was scared the older rod bolts would not hold.
I was hesitant at first but figured screw it. If it lets loose it let's loose. I have always heard the 98's had weaker rod bolts but have never heard of anyone's letting go, I'm sure it happens..... but I could not find many instances of 98's letting go, only people saying they heard they are weaker.
I talked to my tuner about it and he said he does it all the time.
They may be weaker but think it may be blown out of proportion on the internet.
I really pounded on my car this season and it saw high rpms for long periods of time at a road course event so if it was going to let go, this summer would of been it lol

Ya, I think so. Take care of the tranny hitting the rev limiter and will probably go to a yank PT4400.
Stuff like this makes me smile. Your SBE car from '98, runs harder than the blown modular mustang that I ran at the track last week. And as HCI 2000 said.... car sounds good man. Get that transmission dropped yet?

Not yet, just put it in a trailer today and brought it to where I store it for winters. Maybe in January/ February I will start on the transmission when I get bored.
I wouldn't bother with trying to eek out a 10.90. Your car is clearly making some good power, and with the right changes, you could be running 10.50's. You're giving up at least .2 in the 60' alone! 1.59 60' needs some work. I'd throw a pair of QA1's or Vikings up front to get some weight transfer going on. A little weight reduction wouldn't hurt either. You're so close to running some awesome numbers! Have you thought about restalling to a PT4400? Or maybe going with an SS4000? It's going to be all the little changes you make at this point that will get you to your goal. Definitely run some better headers. Your car is the first one I've seen run an impressive number with Pacesetters. If you're trailering your car to the track, lose the rest of the exhaust behind the headers, that's just restriction and weight. What are you running for an induction setup?

Ya, there are definitely a lot of little things I need to change. I'm on stock suspension right now besides relocating the stock torque arm off the tail shaft.
Exhaust needs some work. I have the PS headers running into ory the I cut the merger off and welded a cutout in right there. Different headers are on the to do list for sure.
I need to rebuild my transmission this winter so I will be having the converter re stalled to a PT 4400. My shift extensions right now are at about 6000 rpms, Just a bit more extension will help out a lot a think along with a better 60'.
Induction before the 102 tb needs some attention eventually.
Stock maf sensor so that is a bit of a bottle neck.
Underneath my air filter I do have that plate cutout so it's able to get some air.
There is lots of weight reduction you can do w/o hurting the drivability of your car. You could drop 30lb off the front just goin to a lithium battery. Get you a ewp and set it up with out a tensioner really free's up the motor and unclutters the front of it while reducing weight. Panhard brace can go away as a bunch of bracketry on the rear.
Personally for a auto car i would likely leave the suspension stock until it started acting ill. You seen to be getting some decent 60s as it is.

Ya I would like to do a ewp but it's a bit down on the list a bit right now. A different hood is also on the list, getting rid of the steel sleek beak will get some weight off also.
Tranny needs rebuilt and I'm restalling the converter. I would like to see around 6300+ shift extensions which I think will help with my setup a lot. I'm really aiming for 125 mph trap next season so we will see.
I do plan on riding the stock suspension out as long as I can.

Maybe a tubular k member in the future also.
I literally can't even right now. A 78mm MAF and K&N FIPK? I can't believe anyone still runs the FIPK. Those turds never sold when they came out since they were so much more expensive than a lid ($300 vs $100). So, yeah, I think you're induction pre-t/b needs more than 'some attention'. That's exactly the type of 'little thing' I was talking about. SD tune that 'ole girl and let 'er eat!
Congrats on the new setup. Looks and sounds good. Keep working on it. You must be making good power since the trans gave up. You are headed in the right direction..
