I've given pretty good feedback from years of being in this market and seeing everything out there.

Midwest Chassis Two Piece Race Arm

Your options are to make this torque arm work or cut your floor out and make room for a stock style torque arm to fit. There is no 9" on the market that utilizes a stock torque arm that does not make contact with the floor. We have vehicles in here all year long cutting out the floor making room for the torque arms.

It would work perfect for auto-x. I know road race/auto-x guys are not as vocal as drag race guys on here but we have quit a few guys that road race using our fabricated housing with the integrated watts link.

I haven't really made up my mind. If the Strange S-60 12 Bolt can do the job though without worrying about it breaking I'd probably take it over the 9" which costs nearly 2 grand more.

Mainly my concern is, I know some of the differentials are not street friendly but Im not sure which configuration is or is not.

Either of these two rear ends are more than strong enough to take whatever you can throw at them. With that said the MWC 9 comes with a torque arm and relocation crossmember. Do you already have that already? The S60 is really only like maybe $300 bucks cheaper when comparing apples to apples

I'm no expert but it looks pretty good to me. I'd call these guys to be sure though. You'll obviously need a differential of some sort as well. You might wanna consider a driveshaft too if you really want to eliminate all the weak links here

I was planning on the MWC 9 until I got a crazy good deal on a torque arm and relocation crossmember.

You are going to want at least 1/2 studs. They are 40% stronger and factory wheels still work with them you just need different lug nuts.

Any aftermarket rear end will need a different driveshaft.

Hmm, that brings me to a slight concern. I am using 5x120 bolt pattern wheels and not 5x120.65 (or 5x4.75") (which is the factory bolt pattern.) I have been told that the oversized 1/2" lugs may cause fitment issues with the wheels due to the slightly different bolt patterns where the stock lugs are more forgiving, the oversized lugs may not be, or basically prevent the wheels from going on. Any truth to that? If so, is there a way that I could have mine made for the precise 5x120 bolt pattern?

I'm not sure if your wheels will fit or not. Quick Performance uses Moser axles. I noticed that their online order form has a place for "other than 5x4.75" bolt patterns. Moser makes custom axles. It's possible that Quick Performance could order custom axles for your build.

The S60 and the 12 bolt are two completely different rear ends. A 9" is not $2k more. The S60 requires a new driveshaft ($300_$400). I would always recommend a new driveshaft with any rear end upgrade though, with 1350 u joints.

I'd also get rid of those BMW wheels and get some GM wheels. The BMW wheel pattern axles would make it almost impossible for resale.

I see, I think I was confused about the 12 Bolt and S60 because it appears that strange offers both and I get what you mean about reselling. but it is possible to have the axle patterns made for 5x120mm? (I don't intend on ever reselling the car or any part of it so not really concerned about resell... if for any reason it's totaled, it still has full coverage on it and I have added every mod I've done to it on the policy so it becomes their issue.)

It's sounding as though the Dana S60 has the advantage over the 12 Bolt from what I'm reading...

I'm guessing if I don't upgrade the studs then I run the risk of snapping them during a hard launch... I'll upgrade but would really like to keep my wheels even if that means going with a slightly different axle if thats possible.

Edit: On second thought.. Do you know of any GM wheels that would look like the AVAT 5's that offer a similar offset? Another concern that has been brewing me is my tires may be a bit too narrow. I have 295's on the rear and 275's on the front.. does that sound "okay" for the power goals I'm seeking ? My rear wheel has a 9.5" width.

I'm not sure what your power goals are but in any racing situation a bigger tire is usually better.

Well, I think I've come to terms. Quick Performance does offer the 5x120mm but I was told this wasn't a good idea. MWC gave me an idea to use a Duo of 12mm and 1/2" (meaning I can upgrade to 1/2" later.) I'm probably going to do that and just be on the lookout for 19" Wheels that can fit an F-Body in the mean time.

S60 is without a doubt the way to go over a 12 bolt or quick performance 9"... it will be around $500-1000 cheaper total over all compared to MWC Fab 9"...I have s60 absolutely zero complaints. Thing is as solid as it gets. I am swapping to a th400 this winter so my driveshaft will no longer be of use to me and I'll be listing it for sale soon. It is an all chromoly shaft tig welded with chromoly ends and chromoly trans yoke with 1350's installed. Recommended to me by MWC when I got my s60 from them. MWC is the way to go.

I agree the S60 is the best bang for buck out there, especially if you already have an aftermarket torque arm. This and the 9 inch are the only 2 rears I'd totally trust to take the abuse of a high powered t56 fbody

With the S60 which torque arm should I go for? I am assuming I need one that is not connected to the tailshaft of the transmission (due to my power goals that is, I forgot what they call them, tunnel mount?) but any specific kind?
