Default custom -6AN cooler lines installed *pics*

A few of you may have seen this on performancetrucks.net... but if you are looking for an alternative to those crappy hard steel lines, this is your ticket for sure....

pretty hefty hose, its rubber core, steel braided sleeve, then a braided nylon sleeve over that, its mil-spec aircraft hose good to ~3500psi... nice and beefy, but still pretty flexible.

Here's a shot of the fittings loosely fit onto my FLT Level-V trans. the blue fittings, FLT hooked me up with but are simple NPT>AN adapters, next are the steel swivel 45* fittings and then the -6AN hose connected to the end... I had the hose made with straight fittings because I didnt know how much room I was going to have once it was all said and done... but these adapters worked well... you can have yours made with the 45's on the hose even.

I had both sections made extremely long so I could route the hoses where I wanted to, both were about 15'. I have plenty left over.

Just another shot of that beautiful FLT workmanship... second to none IMO. The solid line ontop of the trans is the vac modulator that T's into the brake booster hose.

Here's a shot of the 30K GVW cooler installed in the grille. I bypassed the radiator circut and ran it straight from the trans, up front, and back. This is the cooler that came with my new Yank SS3600 converter, also installed all at the same time. Part of their Feb special.

I know some of you may criticize my choice of bypassing the radiator in the circut, and I can assure you, it hasnt been a problem at all... Keep in mind this is all installed in a truck, so you figure about a 4500# vehicle with a big stall.... the highest I have seen the temps even after beating on it has been 170*... thats ******* it for about 15-20 miles.... and it quickly comes back down to about 150* within minutes. I'll never drive this thing in an extremely cold climate so I wont need the pre-heat of the radiator... and its not a lack of power keeping the heat down either LOL... this cammed 5.3 is plenty healthy

-If you guys have any questions about my setup please ask. I'll answer everything I can.

I had the trans for about 7K miles before... I had a Vig 3200 in there that took a dump and killed he trans... so I just had it refreshed and gone through by the guys at FLT... the trans is incredible. fully built, vacuum modulated, good servos... etc etc etc... you cant beat it IMO. yeah, its spendy, but you honestly get every red cent of what you pay for with FLT. those guys know whats up...

What degree taper seat does the 45* steel fittings have? They are usually a different angle than the an style. Intern, they will leak if they are different.

I'd like to add you can buy the pipe to -6an in 45's and bypass using the brass fittings. That's the way I set mine up, there's no way the setup above would clear my tunnel. The mazda tunnel is tall and narrow and almost touches the servo.

My bad,
Either way my point was if you need more room or just want to do it with less fittings they make that same adapter in a 45.

looks like a nice setup, but i dont recommend using a pipe fitting in the case unless you have to. you can easily overtorque and bust a case.
the stock brass fitting with an adapter is a better route, IMO.
the brass fittings arent tapered like a true pipe fitting, and the nut will break off from the threads if you get it too tight.
black braided lines FTW! only way to go. superlight and easy to work with.

Can these 1/4" NPT fittings be used on a stock 4L60E? Or must I tap the holes first?
