will 2 trans. coolers be better than 1
? will having 2 coolers be better than just one keeping fliud cooler?if so by how many degrees?
I'm also considering adding a cooling fin for my extrenal trans. fliter are these any good for extra cooling?
Thanks
Now you run the 148degree oil into another 60% efficient cooler:
(148-80ambient = 68degrees. 68 x .40 = 27.2. Output is 80ambient + 27.2 degrees=107.2degrees).
So you've added the weight and compexity of an additional cooler but only got a 40degree drop for your trouble, where the 1st one gave you a 102degree drop.
If you started with one large cooler that was 85% efficient, like B&M's stacked-plate SuperCooler (more efficient than the curved tube and fin cooler, more like your car radiator), and the same 250degree oil and 80degree ambient air, you would get:
250-80ambient = 170 degrees of heat above ambient air. 170 x .15 = 25.5. Output is 80ambient + 25.5degrees = 105.5degrees.
So less weight and complexity of 1 cooler with a larger temp differential wins the day. Remember the weight has to include a full cooler's worth of oil for every cooler, plus hardware and tubing.
If you ran a parallel install with the two coolers, you would have to do some testing to find the efficiency, but it might turn out to have similar results to the one large cooler. This is useful when your space available fits 2 smaller coolers over 1 large. But don't run them serially!
And all coolers need good airflow in and out - not just exposure to air.

I will be road racing at VIR (4 mile road course) in July.........this will be the real test

all with an iron block 417 stroker to boot
installing a heavy duty cooler dope style (to the air deflector under the car) would work more efficent. I could get away w/ this using the B&M since it's durable but not w/ the el cheapo I think rocks would mess it up.
my current 20K cooler works fine on the expressway temp. usally never exceds 100 degrees even when outside temp is 80-90 degrees,(I installed it high hopping the hood opening would flow more air over it)
it's the big city traffic that causes the temp. to rise 180 -220 on hot days.
what do you guy's think of the finned device that fits over the external fliter I'll post a image of this device.
Paul nice setup w/ coolers.
?. is the B&M attached w/ a plastic tie wrap?
Thanks

I'd look at 2 coolers for more extreme situations such as road racing described above.

I mounted it just above the air deflector.
intended to connect both in parraelle but can't find a Y connector Summit only had AN type stuff I want to use brass barbed type fittings so as for now there connected in series.
? what do you guy's think about me covering my external fliter with a finned device for more cooling I've sean them on the Jegs site but Jegs has discontinued them.
Thanks
