Went to the local pull-a-part today and scored a grommet that I think will work pretty well. Its off of a 95ish F*rd crown vic. Its made for where the computer harness goes thru on the driverside. Porbably about 2 1/2" diameter maybe a bit smaller but with some trimming should work perfect. Hope that helps you out some stealth cuz I know it did me.

Wow. What a great job of documenting your build. I just read this front to back in one setting. I guess this is like reality TV for the LS1 conversion gearheads. I am in about the same shoes. I'm 2 years into my LS1 Silverado. I didn't do a frame off but almost. I so feel your pain about not finishing when you think you should. I had to wait almost a year for my spot to come up at the paint shop. Well, when the time came up I wasn't as far along as I thought it would be. So, now all the paint is complete but the conversion isn't. The thing is sitting on my lift looking like its ready! 2 more weeks, right?

Stealth, I've been following you story for a while but decided to re-read everthing tonight, cover to cover, because I had been falling behind. You're going to save me a lifetime of mistakes!

Quick question, did you cut out the section of your firewall that is now covered with the smoothing kit? I also had the factory air but am head toward a Classic Auto Air or Vintage Air under dash system.

Well I finally got back to work on the car.

Finished bending up the brake lines and mounting the line lock, proportioning valve and the clutch master. Clutch pedal all works now and I just need to bleed the brakes to give them a test. I'm working on finishing up the firewall hole/ gasket for the wiring harness to go through. Should have some more updates this week.

I also mounted the clutch reservoir, but it was after I took this pic.

Looking good stealth I like the progress makes me want to go jump on mine right now haha. I will be interested to see what you come up with for getting the harness through the firewall.

Yeah. I didn't realize they weren't finished until they rusted. It's on the list of things to do. I also have to spray the tie rods and center link.

Firewall should be complete tonight. I'll snap some pics. I think it looks good so far. I didn't want to cut through my nicely finished firewall, but it was necessary. I'll have to lay another layer of paint down the road.

I got the wiring harness gasket installed last night. It's a Seals-It gasket that comes in half. Don't mind the scratches on the firewall. Isn't that one of the laws of physics? If it's freshly painted, it's bound to get scratched. I planned on spraying it again anyway.

Plenty of length on the inside.

Now I need to decide what I'm going to cover the harness with.
