yeah, it would make a great update... i was wondering the same thing, but i figured that it would take WAY TOO MUCH to make it work.

It's brand new, and as you can see from the pic it still has the original plastic over the screen.

FYI that absolutely will not work in a Escalade. They are totally different. It should work in any tahoe, Yukon, Sierra, or silverado tho. Dealer will need to program and tell the car it has nav

This will only work with the LTZ trim package. It will have to be programmed to the RPOs that your truck has.

this post is old, so i think that the part numbers have changed since it was written in 2006

It has nothing to do with trim level, but your vehicle must have a factory Bose sound system, or its a real pain.

As for an F-body, this unit will never work. The radio is 29-bit GMLAN.while the F-body is Class 2. I know of no adapter, either.

I've done this exact retrofit on a 2006 Impala and 2007 Tahoe, and it's 20 minute swap.

If my truck does not have factory bose what will I need? From my understanding I will need an amplifier to run to the speakers to amplify the navigation unit correct?

Correct, a non-Bose car or truck would need an aftermarket amp and custom wiring to make the factory nav unit work.
