Using the GM flex fuel sensor on an Fbody
So when i stumbled across this:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...o-your-c6.html
It got me thinking about how to make this work in an Fbody. I know that our cars use a 411 PCM which does not support flexfuel but the 04 GTO is an ls1 and that PCM (12586243) does have a flexfuel option in that computer. Does anyone know what it would take to get that PCM working correctly in an Fbody?
I keep seeing that HPT and EFIlive support flex fueling for that computer so all it would take is wiring in the sensor and activating it in the tune (like they did above). People seem to have done it S10s and in australia but its in not well known.
Seems like there has been some success here too:

yeah ive seen that that year had a flex fuel option but is the pin in our computer currently unused so that when you change to the new operating system from the tahoe its not sending that signal to a pin that we already have in use?
Basically are the pinouts the same between our two vehicles? i cant find a pinout to an 02 flexfuel tahoe

Just load the 02 suburban flex file and populate the flex tables. Operating system is the same numbers as the 02 camamro. You can try it using the camaro os but I usually use the suburban file cause I know it works as I own a 02 burb that's flex already. Flex sensors are cheap and can be had for free off some ford Taurus at the local u-wrench-it yards. Gm sensors have quick disconnect fittings and Fords have threaded fittings that can be replaced with AN style fittings.
The sensors don't ever really go bad and can be inline on the pressure or return side of the fuel line it does not really matter which side.
Blue connector pin 56 is flex fuel signal input from sensor.

Nope, no reason not to use it though just too busy to put it on it. I am putting it in my jag as it is boosted. Still in the construction pap haste of it now. Will do a full build thread once I get a bit further along. I have tuner cats and Hptuners so am able to enable/populate the tables. I hve played with it a bit on the wife's burb just to verify it is functional.

saw this thread, curious...
I have a 2002 lq4 pcm...
Can the blue connector pin 56 that is "not used" be simply turned on in the tune and wired in from the sensor?
Or does the pcm have to be from a 2003+ pcm that originally had the flex fuel sensor?

Yes. Even same pinout. Fords have fuel line fittings that can be unscrewed and AN style screwed into it. GM uses pressed in fittings. The older ones are larger and all aluminum case; newer ones are all black and smaller. They just need placed in the fuel line, supply or return is fine.
This writeup makes it sound like rocket science but it's pretty simple. Albeit that this is on a G8 with different PCM. All you need to add is the inline sensor, connect ground, switched +12v power and signal out to the PCM pin. Then load a L59 file (write entire) and start tuning.
