3.00 gears with Yank LS3800 Stall?
I’m wanting to do a gear swap in my Moser 9” to something better for daily/ highway driving. I currently have a Yank LS 3800 stall with 3.70 and I am looking to go to 3.00 gears. T/A has a LQ4 installed with LS3 heads and aftermarket cam.
Any issues with going to this gear with the 3800 stall? And this maybe a dumb question, but would I need to put my old steel driveshaft back in vs my aftermarket aluminum?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have about a 3800-4000 converter in my 4L80e with 2.78 gear and 26" tires. No issues with it besides being sluggish compared to how it was before with 4L60e with similar converter stall.

Mild steel drive shaft from a local shop. Had it ever since the ls swap (2010). With the 4L60e the rpms would be at 2000 going 80mph while the converter was locked. It shifted into 3rd around 110mph lol.

Lol, nice work. I have a 3.5” aluminum in right now. Hoping that will hold. I do have a custom steel driveshaft sitting in the box from when I snapped a 3” aluminum with the old 2.73’s.

Final Update:
I installed 3.00 gears in the Moser 9". On the advice of Moser and Strange, I had to grind the nodular case in order to fit the larger pinion gear. The Yank LS3800 and the 3.00 gears really work well with my setup. Car revs about 1700 rpm at 65 mph. After a few drives and HP Tuner logs and tunes later, the car is shifting and TCC is locking where I want it. Next step is to go to the track to tune the track pack for the new gear set up.
