Default RHS Block piston clearance

Checking clearance on pistons today and found they were tight on the top side of the block. they were around .0018@12 o’clock ..003@8 o’clock and.0025@4 o’clock is this do to not having a torque plate? @ the bottom of the block they were running.0035@all three pistion.will the heads stress the top of the block that much? How much will the cylinders grown n a aluminum block ? Running Wiseco 2618 pistons .thanks for your input.

To measure the piston, follow the manufacturer's suggestions. It is usually measured perpendicular to the pin and x.xxx" down from the oil ring/pin/top/etc. Never measure cleanace on the "sides' of the piston, they have a barrel/oval shape to them.

Then measure the bore "top to bottom" and "front to back" at the top, middle and bottom of the bore to check for roundness and taper.

Then do the math between the two. Follow the manufacturer's suggestions for bore size if they're coated and/or piston to wall clearance. it will vary depending on piston material, coatings, intended usage, etc.
