I put a stock 99 LQ4 into my 1972 chevelle. Everything seemed fine until I let it run to get it up to temp. I noticed the top hose was getting hot while the lower hose was cool. The top radiator hose fitting was bubbling where it is pressed in. I went to shut the vehicle off and....BOOM! It blew the fitting out. Not sure what is going on. Any help would be appreciated!

Wow that sucks.
Old water pump or new water pump? I don't know of any fix except to replace the water pump.

It was a new pump.

Yikes! Never heard or seen that before. Is maybe there a blockage on the coolant circuit perhaps? I wouldn't think the water pump would create that much pressure to cause the tube to blow off. And maybe the tube was also defective? Who knows?

Take it back/send it back for a free replacement?
If you have pets keep them away from the coolant.

Yeah that's just a defective part, pure and simple. NO WAY pressure would be able to do that, without FIRST exploding the rad hoses. Since those clearly didn't explode, there wasn't ANYWHERE NEAR enough pressure to cause that.
