Default Will a 'Fake L94" fool the PCM?

Thinking of building a replacement motor for the l94 that's in the Escalade which is my wife's daily driver. Would like to have it ready to do the engine swap over a long weekend, minimizing down time. AFM DOD is already turned off in her computer with the Diablo. I was wondering if I take an ly6 block, for it to 4.065, I have an l92 rotating assembly stock on hand, as well as a brand new l92 camshaft that retains the VVT. Other than using the appropriate front timing cover and moving the harness for the knock sensors, in theory I'm thinking the PCM won't need tuning as the dimensions are basically identical. I'd be using her l94 intake and injectors. My reasoning is it's a lot cheaper to pick up an ly6 block and machine it then to locate or buy a new aluminum block.

Default Good to hear!

Thank you for confirming to me that what made logical sense is in fact accurate. I was worried if I was missing something, it just seemed to add up that way. Basically this would be an iron block l92.

If bore the LY6 that far, the machine shop should sonic check the block to be sure its still has enough material in the bores. I’d strongly recommend deleting the VVT though. Merely turning it off in the ECM still lets the VVT lifter to be proned to failure. I think BTR makes VVT delete cams. Stock specs. They are ground different the a cam with VVT. You’d be better off with a stage 1 or 2 truck cam. I would suggest SUMMIT RACING Pro LS series or BTRs truck cam. Another would be Cam Motion or a Pat G. spec’d cam on a Cam Motion core.

All four have excellent reviews.

Default VVT lifters? What?

This will effectively be an L92. 6.2 L, non afm/dod, factory stock L92 VVT cam which runs standard LS7 lifters. VVT for the street is excellent, would never delete it unless going for more top end power. There are no special lifters for VVT....

Definitely on checking the block following the bore.

I’d make sure you are running LS3 intake valves. I was thinking it had DOD.

I’d be perfectly ok going 4.065 on an LY6 block. I’ve seen guys go out 4.100 on iron gen4 blocks and running them hard…N/A of course.

Default Will be NA

Going to be basically a stock L92 when I'm done. This is the wife's daily driver, and she gets scared over 2500 rpm anyway, LOL. The trunion kit is probably overkill for her driving style, but I figure nothing wrong with going a little bit overboard.
