Need Help on choosing a set of forged pistons for my N/A 5.3 build
First time posting in this group, Im trying to build a 500hp (to the flywheel of course), 5.3 gen 4, I have the whole motor teared down and I am starting to look at the different parts I should get and I am trying to start from the bottom up. I want to put forged internals to bulletproof the motor and always have that mental thought of them not failing, but I need some advice on which ones to get? (Im 19 and this is my first REAL ls build) any advise would be very helpful.

summit racing has some nice forged piston/rod kits that are great for the money. tell more about your plans so people here can get a better idea, like n/a or turbo or blower or nitrous , whats it going in, what is it going to be used for ? 500 will be tough n/a, 500 will be easy with some psi. ( edit i just re read it, you said n/a so either stroke the 5.3 or sell it and start with a 6.0, you can make a nice 370 with forged rod/piston kit .30 over and stock crank on that 6.0)

Forged internals are a waste on money on an N/A build. 500hp at the crank with a 5.3L is nearly impossible. It would be much cheaper to trash the 5.3, buy a 6.0, and just put a cam in it. The 5.3L will take literally every upgrade there is to even get close to 500 hp. Even then, it still might not get there. If you insist on using the 5.3L block, then have it bored out to 3.898", get some stock LS1 pistons, ported 243 heads milled about .020", big cam, short runner intake, and proper valve train to support 7k+ rpms. That's about what it would take to reach 500hp with a 5.3L block. You can use the crank and rods that it came with. Again, forged internals are pointless with an N/A 5.3L.
Basically everything you need to know:
500hp--> intake--> heads-->
