Default Can Anyone Identify This T56?

I have an opportunity to purchase a built T56 but can’t really identify it. It has a long input shaft like an LS but a 31 spline output shaft. The shifter position is TR6060 like but the front cover is not. I can’t find anything on the bellhousing. It’s weird too? Any help?

Looks just like a T56 from an Fbody car to me only with an aftermarket SFI bell but the belhousing looks to be installed incorrectly due to the starter location in relationship to the transmission mount. Looks like that bell was desinged for the starter to be on either side?

Maybe an LT1 T-56? It definitely has an F-body tailshaft because it has the holes for the torque arm mount. Are you sure it's 31 splines and not 30? Viper output shafts are 30 spline and are a common upgrade.

Aftermarket Ford T56 (not Magnum). Borg Warner made a GM version and a Ford version as "replace the T5" fitment (not exactly plug and play on the GM unit; I don't recall what the Ford unit required. )

The owner said it’s 31. I’m on my IPad and the picture is too small to count. I’ll check on my home computer.

The bellhousing starter mount threw me off too including the three bolt holes surrounding the starter nose.

I have a T56 Magnum from RPM Transmissions and the output shafts are originally 27 spline and the one they built for me is a 31 spline output shaft.

That's a Ford Box all day. GM Fbody T56 the Shifter location on the Tailshaft is at the very back of it and it's rectangular, not square like that.
Bellhousing is setup to have the Starter bolt to it, Ford stuff.

Enough pics on the internet to clarify but I'll post one to clear this up. Some of you guys should know this one with the Fbodies you have..

Fbody LS T56 here, the one I built for my Monte SS but the Tailshaft is the same for the LT and LS 4th Gens.

As far as the Output Shaft, the stock is 27. 31 Spline is the upgrade and it's larger, same size as a 4L80E or the Viper Output Shafts. What's in the picture looks like the stock 27 Spline, easiest way to check would be with a stock 27 Spline Yoke. I keep a spare one around that helps me install a T56 in a car, as you see in my pic above.

I'm still saying T56 for an F-Body. That tail housing looks exactly like the one on the T56 Magnum I have. It has been awhile since I've put my eyes on it though but I'll see If I can dig up some pictures of it to compare.

You're right! It's not an Fbody tail housing. It looks similar to the picture in the link below.
