ok no idea here this is for the kids....i can buy the HD and install or do i have to have someone install it? IS that the only difference is the HD? Xbox 360 stupid here help me out.

the hd just snaps on, thats the only difference. You can pick them up for pretty cheap on ebay now. With the memory card you can save alot too, I never needed more memory than what was on the card.
