Default power to run high 8s

Idk how much my full weight trans am weighs, but i can't imagine more than 4,000 lbs. What is an estimate on power needed to run a high 8 quarter mile? I saw in a search several cars about that weight or higher running in the low 9, so I imagine mid to high 8s are possible...

Stock my car weighed almost 3,700lbs without driver so I could see 100% stock car with 200lb driver 3,900lbs..... but single digit cars are not stock. An average weight for a race car would be 3,300lbs with driver as a rough estimate. Some will be much lighter. To get in the 8's like that you will prolly need 800-900hp at the wheels. These are just educated guesses. every setup and car are different.

Yeah, just roughly I would say you would need 800whp, and a sixty foot at least in the 1.3X somewhere.

In my searches of this section, I've seen up to 4000 lb cars running the number. They didn't say what kind of power they were making. Mighty Mouse is one example of a heavy car that still ran great. I can't remember the names of some of the others.

its hard to push a sled like that into the 8's. We finished a few months ago a full weight with full cage trans am 402 250 shot of nitrous that made 856hp and it ran 9.2's cutting 1.41 60'. Id shot in the 900-1000hp range to be safe
