Best single digit cars?
Get urself an lt1 and swap a built ls1, turbo 400, and a rear in it, spray the **** out of it, get it too hook, and you got single digits easy! Or even easier, an old fox body coupe, with all the same stuff I just said, those ******* are light!
And with an LS1 under the hood, the car will still be very streetable!
And with an LS1 under the hood, the car will still be very streetable! I'd say go old school..... No sense in putting an LS1 in another heavy camaro when you can put one in a 63-66 Chevy II Nova..... Tub it, put an injected small block with nitrous, and make sure you take care of the front suspension and steering before you go whizzing down the 1/4 mile.... Or if you wanted to go real fast put a turbo sbc in it (like a 434 or sumthing of that nature) and launch into the stratosphere..... If the car looked like crap and you didn't care about it's looks you could probably do that type of car for about 30K....
5-6K for car, and 25K for engine/tranny/exhaust and everything else you'll need.....

FWIW, the late-model F-Body is one of the LAST platforms I'd chose to go extremely fast (8's or faster).
1.) 60's Nova or Chevy II
2.) 1st gen F-Body
3.) Fox body
Throw whatever motor you want in there, but I'd probably take a 500+ cube BBC over an LS1 for drag racing.
fox body lx with 5.0 auto.. gut the car.. it will weigh less than 3000 lbs. toss the 5.0 take a 351 from a bronco or f250 that you can find in a junkyard. put some forged stuff in it , good heads, big cam, 750 cfm+ carb, maybe even stroke it. Take a 9" from about any 70s truck or an 8.8 from something newer like an explorer.. limited slip if it doesnt have it, stronger axles. Youll need a tranny.. have the c4 that came with the car built. BIG STALL. NITROUS. 10.5 in SLICKS, some suspension goodies. DONE...
oh wait you wanted 10's, use a smaller nitrous hit.

i picked up my second charger for $3000 it was some one elses race car, he got bored with it so his loss is my gain. i will have less than 8k in the car and i should be comfortably in the 8's thanks to ebay and some junk yard parts.
Fox bodys are quick and easy cars to mod for the money...
