Question SICK! of my carb!!

What Muti Port Fuel Injection kits are you guys using? How much am i looking at to spend for a decent setup? I have done a search and some people talk about Megasquirt. Just looking for feedback and/or recommendations. It is going to go on 391 SBC (bored and stroked 350) in my 1974 Chevy Stepside. thanks guys

What is the application man? Is this a street car? I have used those and the Pro Forms, they are a track carb, not made for cruising, more for WOT. A vacuum secondary 750 holley is awesome for the street, i use one for daily duties and the Pro Form (same as quick fuel) for the track.

I believe my carb is based off the Holley 750 double pumper. anyone correct me if i am wrong. BUT... that is not relevant anyway. i have had many carbs on this but i want better mileage, dependablity, and quicker starts. I need/want fuel injection.

Well, the EFI isnt any better when the carb is tuned properly, i told you, the carb you have is set up for racing, not street.

If you cant tune a simple carb, injection may not for you either IMO. The carb I was offering is the "Street HP" series not a carb made simply for high RPM WOT duty. It has adjustable air bleeds and can be VERY fine tuned. If you can afford the $2000-3000 bucks that you'll need to get a complete system then I say go for it. Dont expect to just plug and play to get milage and drivablity from any EFI/DFI setup as you'll need to spend some time tuning it to get it dialed spot on.....

Did quickfuel build it for your engine? If not, I'd send it to Patrick at Pro-Systems... he built mine and it drives like a champ and runs just as well at the track. He'll be redoing it also for my new setup. Very knowledgeable guy! I run a 396 SBC Street/Strip combo.

No clue what bleeds I have in it but I run a powervalve in the primary side with 76 jets and 86 jets in the rear with a powervalve plug(AKA No powervalve.).

stop posting useless info. what part is "racing" instead of street? a lack of choke? That carb when tuned properly is MORE than streetable under all conditions. My advice would be to buy a holley book and read up on it and how to tune. Otherwise have a local dyno shop etc wideband tune the carb and set it up for you. I tune several cars with these type carbs and they are made to be more than streetable and if you're willing to change jets, you can lean them out just like fuel injection easily. Just because you don't know how to make your carb run properly doesn't mean that your vacuum secondary carb is any better.

Well, as that carb is, off the shelf, it has very poor street manners, tuned is a different story, so the info is not useless. It is made for maximum power also, as it has all the extra you want/need for peek power. I have one just like it and my vac sec carb still does way better on the street with my manual trans.

LOL! I have a cousin that has this carb and he has had great luck with it on the street. Maybe i should just meddle with the jets a bit more. PITA!

Not really it only takes 5 mins to swap jets in either bowl, once you've done it once or twice it becomes second nature. Its no biggie at all, you can do it no problem. Reading plugs to know which way to go is a little different story but is not that hard to figure out either with some practice......

You also cab adjust air bleeds and things of that nature with the four corner idle circuit, but the air bleeds are better lift alone if you do not know what you are doing. The squirters and accelerator pump cam are also tunable.

I even have an air/fuel ratio meter. It is strange as hell. I get it dialed in(running slightly rich is what it likes) and the the next week i drive it and then it starts hesitating again. I did change my tank out about a year ago and no wonder my fuel pump went out then! that tank being over 30 years old was full of crap!. Since then i have take that carb apart twice and cleaned it. maybe i need to take it in for a professional cleaning as there are small areas that can be missed
