I hear those heads can have soft spring seats, but other than that, with port work they do ok.

I would spend the extra money on theese...

They flow better than comp and are renown for not being JUNK and having any issues other than reliability and excellent quality for the price.

i have the 210CC and they are stout heads. Read up on google and other forums, A lot of people use them and are getting awesome results. You get even better results with porting and upgrading the springs.

Extra 500$ is worth it to me, no issues with break in or running special oils and what not, or too much spring pressure, all that.

Are the rest of the EBAY heads I keep seeing Pro Comp? some of them look like the ZZ3 casting and some look like a Dart knock off w/ the exhaust side completely machined.
I found a set for $600 that are 210's but the flow numbers sort of suck, somewhere in the 250 range @ .600. You'd figure even unported a 210 would start out a little closer to 270

care to elaborate on that? do they need machine work to be usable or is the metal of such poor quality that they won't seal or do they warp, etc?

I'm wanting to build a quick car on a tight budget(who doesn't want that?) and to save $600 on a set of heads would be money that could be spent on nicer wheels or rear end parts, etc.

I've seen some Pro Comp BBC and SBC heads, both seemed decent and neither had any problems on the dyno (that I know of). The BBC heads had new valve seats installed, and we found that they had used loctite around the seat insert (no-no). Other than that, they seemed fine.

I believe the Scat cranks are purchased as raw forgings and fully machined here in the US. I'm not sure about Eagle. However, I have heard of several problems with Eagle crankshafts (poor indexing of the throws, new cranks that were bent, etc.). I work for a large manufacturer asan engineer and we deal with China all the time. If you have a good quality control program in place, you can force them to make a decent product. If not...you WILL get garbage!

As for the heads...people said the same thing to me when Trick Flow first came out. I bought an early set and they were great. I did try to weld repair an area once and found that the grade of aluminum didn't weld very good. I think they are even better now.

The only way they would not weld up nice is if you used the wrong grade of rod.

Scats forging are done overseas but the machining of the finished products is done in california.
