Looking for some thoughts.....im building a 71' Chevelle and im on a slight budget lol......but i found a good deal on a 434 project.....at the machine work has been done to the block, Dart heads, JE piston, and a cam......so I will need a Forged Crank and rods as well as other parts......Just looking for some thoughts on a 434.....My goal is 10's and I can add spray if needed.....Who's ran them.....Thanks

all the machine work is done and it's fresh.....there are new JE pistons....a set of used Dart heads(pro 1's I think) and a .630/.630 cam for $1500.....sounds like a pretty good deal to me....I'm starting from scratch anyways and until i find a good block and then have the machine work done and I know heads are not cheap .......do the blocks need clearance for the 4" crank?...............Mike

oh so you had a 434?.....What Rods did you run on it, I was looking at some eagle 4340 rods on Ebay but they claim that they wont work on anything bigger than 3.8" stroke. I think it said it hits the Cam...oh and this is a roller cam........

I had an Ohio Crankshaft built short block.(OHIO CRANKSHAFT has uses in-house brand of Cranks and Rods, with JE Pistons.) They were H-beams.
You MUST use a .900" base circle to avoid contact with rods and pistons...I believe your cam is probably of this variety.
You should go with some I-beam stroker clearanced rods.

what do you think about the .630/.630 camshaft.....my step-brother thinks it should have a bigger one.....I'm pretty sure he said .670/.625 would be a good cam for the set-up, he also said that the .630/.630 was ground for a 383.....I know someone with a 383 who was interested in my cam...just looking for a few opinions
