TPI intake swapped for LT1 intake
Does anyone know if this is a good idea? I have a bone stock 1988 305 tpi iroc-z and i want to do a head swap. But i need to know what are some good budget heads, and if an lt1 intake is a good idea or should i stick with the tpi intake?

on 5.0 it might be alil much for it..alot of ur bottem end grunt wil prob be gone..but will rev real high....if you gunna stay with the 5.0 and do a H/C/I
id do the HSR/BBK intake/ or mod the TPI
slp/edelbrocks TPI runners are the cheapest intake mod of them all so

but i have a camaro performers issue where they measure an edelbrock intake to the stock tpi intake and the stock intake runners are wider then edelbrocks, and the base plate are both the same

what are some good heads for a 305 tpi, cuz i cant really find any, the heads i find say i need a vortech style intake. I was thinking heads and some long tubes might make up for some of the torque lost from the lt1 intake. I have a little over $2000 to spend. And i know it needs a rebuild by now. I hardly drive it cuz it burns a lot of oil.

then what is it guy? there were no z28s in 88. If you read the whole thing it says they started life as an iroc coupe but then were taken off the lot by ASC and turned into convertables thats why the vins 6th digit is a 2 instead of a 3

With a bone stock 305 and only $2000 to invest (and the engine is smoking), I wouldn't be thinking about cylinder heads or an intake. Do the things that will give instant "seat of the pants" increase. You will also be able to use these parts down the road if you upgrade to a 350. Full length headers, cold air intake, new torque converter and rear gears, shift kit for transmission. Maybe a cam swap and tuning if you have some extra $ left. Head over to thirdgen.org. Lots of guys on there with decent 305 setups.
