Question reguarding horsepower
Sorry if this is a dumb question but its really confusing me. Are LS1 engines more effective in terms of putting power to the ground than a L98 motor or an LT1 motor. If so how?
Thanks

its manly the transmission and rear end that "rob" horsepower...
as far as i know they all use about the same rear and tranny, so yes....
the ls1 puts out more than the lt1 and so on.. but doesnt mean it does it without losing more/less..
hope i got that, and you got mine..

I was confused because over at thirdgen.org the basic rule of thumb is a 245rwh L98 makes roughly 300 at the motor. (245*100/80). Most LS1's put down 300 to the wheels. Using that same formula LS1's should make 350 at the motor. My guess is they are underrated. I even saw a stock LS1 put down 325 at the wheels. Guess I answered my own question lol

ls1s make 300 at the wheels... give or take a few...
which equates to roughly 350 at motor..

The answer is no, they just make more power with a better induction combination off the showroom floor.
