Default BBC in '02 GMC Help

Hey Y'all
I just bought a 2002 v6, 6 speed gmc truck and was wondering what it would take to put a BBC in it.

Thanks

I've never looked under a 2002 GMC truck but I would imagine at the very least you'll need a new K- member or motor plate setup. Would you stick with EFI or go carb?

You'll probably need a new fuel system, ignition system front suspension and then what ever kind of clearencing is needed to wedge that in there.

I'm guessing the engine bay is pretty large.

Probably able to use the engine mounts for the 8.1 engine from the HD/1 ton or 3/4 ton trucks.

they didnt put 6 speeds in those trucks... why not go new gen style 8.1 out of a big truck? tons of torque, better milea ge, and no emissions bullshit. and then you could find the 6 speed manuals they put on those trucks for yours.

I haven't seen the truck yet, its what the guy told me, and I'm guessing on the year.

I've already got a built 454 from a mid 70's C20 and I'm staying with the carb.

What years headers will work and what about motor mounts? Are the 8.1 mounts the same as the Mark 4? I've got a set of headers for a 73-87C10 with BBC that are in great shape will they work? And if not my brother has a set for a 88-late 90's C1500 with BBC.

I havent found a set of headers that would work. And i think 900 dollars for some shorty's isnt my cup of tea. now there is a place that makes long tubes. pass side exits like a normal header but the driver side does this wierd 90 degree turn. And again they aint cheap either. I used my v6 mounts with adapters. If you are interested in them I may sell them. Here is some pictures

those 8.1 motors are junk for hi perf. the stock pistons come apart with even minor mods. better off using a reg. bbc.

So basically no one makes headers or motor mounts to put a BBC in the truck? Looks like it's fab time!
