I would like to use 92 octane because I am cheap. So that is where I get the 10:1 ratio from, but I guess I will have to step up to the rectangular port AFR's and a larger carb.

You don't need the rectangular port heads if you don't want to spin it real high, you can also make good power pretty high up there with oval port heads. I had a 10:1 454 that made 508 RWHP at 6800 rpm on pump gas with ported Edelbrock oval port heads and those heads aren't that great. On that motor at 6800 rpm it still didn't really reach peak HP but that was as High as I had them take it on the dyno. I later put a 7200 limiter in the car and hit it several times with no problems and it always pulled hard up to that point. Although if you plan on having it peak over much 6000 rpm I'd probably go with the rectangular port heads too. The only reason my motor made power that high was because I had a HUGE cam but you can do it.

even 2 bolt BBCs are strong as ****, or u could run splayed caps. in a lil nova, that thing could be one baaaad mothafucka if u do it right. wathc out 4 their propensity 2 eat cams tho. my 396 did.
