Which carb should I go with ?

Default Which carb should I go with ?

Ok I do not know alot about carbs and far from a pro. I currently have a 91 s10 with a built roller 355 chevy, 10.1-1CR, brodix ik200 heads, 1.52 roller rockers, rpm air intake it's been gasket matched, comp cams 282 extreme energy cam, 3000 stall, 3.73 gears, 100-200shot of nitrous and a 650 holley street avenger.

I am looking upgrade the my carb without breaking the bank. I called holley and they suggested this carb : 4150 Street HP Carburetor
750 cfm
"Double Pumper" Mechanical Secondaries
More info on Holley 0-82751 no choke

I called my local speedshop and they had this carb for a few bucks more and said it is lighter with see thru fuel levels and 4 way idle screws :
Proform #778-67200
Race Series Mech Secondary Carb

Now I have been searching the web to get more info about the proform carb and not getting much luck. Any suggestions on which carb I should get or if there is another in the same price range I should consider. BTW the speedshop ordered both carbs so I can compare them in person but did not try to steer me in either direction

The holley would be better for you, but the Pro Form is a PITA at time unless you can tune really well. It is not easy for someone that is not a general carb tuner. Get the holley.

Thanks, I guess holley it is. You just confirmed what little reading I have found about proform is true. They are good carbs but difficult to tune, some even said they had to get a shop to tune it

I'll just get the holley to be safe, I am a fuel injection guy learning this carb thing and don't ned the headaches plus everyone I know over 50 can tune a holley

LOL, i am 26 and i cannot tune EFI...yet

Good luck with it, the holley is simple and the tunability is great.

yeah all the older guys in my area laugh when they realize I'm not jokinjg about tuning a carb. To me it's hard but efi is cake

Go with the holley. That's a good carb. My buddy still runs that on his 383 and hasn't had a problem in many years.

my vote is for holley hp street line, or the regular hp line.
they are awesome carbs out the box and require almost no tuning.
the street hp 750 recommended is what u need

well I got to se both carbs today and the proform is half the weight of the holley but I just bought the holley and a set of see thur plugs

if you can tune a holley you can tune the proform. it is the same exact set up. proform is just basically a holley with billet machined parts.the proform probably would have given you a little bit more power imo.
