I'll probably have it to a few. It's pretty close to my house so I wouldn't see why not.

I'll probably be at Mundelein a bit also.

Hopefully I'll see you there.

Very nice build and attention to detail!! What did you find to work for an air cleaner?

I havn't got the air cleaner 100% done yet but I just got an aluminum flange spacer in the mail and I'm hoping that will take care of my issue.

I got the air cleaner Done yesterdy and the car is officially ready to come home. I used a one inch Carb flange spacer from RacePartsDirect and that gave me the extra clearence over the flange to push my air cleaner assembly over the windshield by about an 1/8 th of an inch.

I'm using a K&N air cleaner assembly with a 2 inch filter. I need every bit of room to fit under my 3" SS hood. It's not 100% perfect since the top of the cleaner makes a little bit of contact with the hood but it's as close as its going to get with out a new hood.

The carb hat spacer I got needed alot of work when I recieved it. I had to grind alot of Aluminum off it to get it to fit but now that I did it fits like a glove.

I might end up getting a new hood if VFN will make me a larger SS hood. Something like a 4" or 5" but I don't know If they'd do something like that so we'll see. I may just end up changing the intake/carb setup after I get some numbers.

I'll probably hold of with the rest of the interior until spring. Plans are for a stock interior with Speed inc.'s light weight carpet. I already cut up a A4 center console and fitted that to my Cheetah shifter so the only hard work left is to lay the carpet.

Little update.

The air cleaner setup I said work did not. So I scraped that whole setup. I bought a 3" velocity stack setup from summit and laid the filter right on top of the carb flange. This worked perfectly with room to spare under the hood and a larger filter element.

Since I've had nothing better to do latley I decided to start on the carpet. What a pain that is. Here's a link to my post about my carpet work in the drag section.

Thumbs up

I think I posted the radiator size earlier in the thread but it is a 27.5" X 15.5" X 3". The actual core minus the two tank is only 22" So you have limited fan choices. If you want to put a bigger radiator in you will most likley need cut the support out and move it lower.

I had to cut the upper radiator support to fit it in and I removed the lower support completely. I had a new tubular lower support welded in because I did not care for the look of the stock support. Plus mine was starting to rust just a little bit.

I actually just brought the car home today and my trailer is a little to high so we had to get creative with wood planks under the ramps to get the headers to clear. It was very close.

I have not had it on the street yet so I'm actually waiting to see how cool/hot it runs on the street as well. I'm guessing I'm going to need to run another fan cause I only have a real high flow 12" right now. Most have said you can use Flex-a-lite dual 12" but it did not fit like people had mentioned so I went to a single puller for now. I probably will have a single 12" and 10" by spring but we'll see. If ya have any questions feel free to PM I'm on here fairly often.

Awesome car! I'm swapping in a SBC in my 94Z racecar, should have it done in a few weeks. How much HP do you think you'll be making? My 383 should make around 650hp/570tq give or take.

My 427 put down 670hp on the dyno. I'm guessing it'll be right around 570hp to the rear wheels. Then if it doesn't do what I need it to do I'll be putting the procharger on there but that'll be in the spring if needed.

Thats some pretty good numbers from a 383 whats done to it?

Well, first off it's a pure racecar and won't see any street time, but it's just basicly good heads, custom soild roller, and a bunch of compression. I wouldn't be suprised if your 427 was an allout race motor it would make 750hp or so.

Depends on how far you want to take it. You can get this swap done on the cheap and probably spend less then 5-8K. However, I have a custom motor, custom trans, custom rearend, BMR suspension, Midwest chassis suspension, custom lines and wiring, full autometer gauges, custom cage etc...

For what I put in this car I could have bought a new camaro, but the fun I had building this was worth the price and the expirence alone was worth the price tag. My advice to any one wanting to do a swap like this is:

Get the BMR conversion K-member. It makes life easier and gives you a lot more room in the compartment for headers.
