Hey:

Sorry to see the issues you are going through. This happens even to the best laid out and executed plans, as you are proof of this. You seem to be very methodical and carefully planning on this whole upgrade. But unfortunately some things still have to be trusted to others, and they don't always seem to be on the same page of the plan. Well good luck on the future of this endeavor, I hope luck turns in your favor as I am waiting to see some times myself. I was considering going down a similar route, we shall see. It has been fun watching till just lately, hopefully you can correct its course without much more expense. Good Luck again and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the encouraging words. It's just more money what can ya do. At least once it comes back I'll finally be able to enjoy it!!!!!!!!!

The 15 miles I have driven it have been awesome but this thing needs to hit the cruises and the track.

Good luck with it man. I might have already told this story but I am drunk.

I built a 406 for my 89 T/A a while back. It would never run right and never made the power it should. After several thousand dollars I found out the machine shop decked the block wrong and I was chasing a problem I couldn't fix.

I put the stock 305 back in it and went to another project.

I have a virgin 400 block ready to go after I get my Firehawk done.

Don't give up.

After a certain point we all lose money in the project and it just becomes something we want to get done.

Best of luck.

Damn you just cant catch a break can you?! You are really being a champ about it though, you have much more patience that I do for sure! You think when you start from scratch, it should all work out the first time when executed properly. Hope the new heads stay on this time around and you find a radiator that doesn't take a **** on you every time you start it up
Let us know how it turns out. Good luck.

The kirkey and racecraft install is simple. The only work you have to do is mark the seat and drill it for the bolts that attach it to the bracket. Other than that its drop in and go.

Figure I'd update this since I haven't in almost 2 months. Got the motor back in the car and it seems that we have solved the purging radiator problem.

The intake lines from the back of the manifold to the thermo housing did wonders. We also raised the radiator above the motor to bleed it out the first time. The problem was caused by air pockets and steaming.

I took the car for a quick cruise to test the temps and it stayed cooler for longer but still got hot. Unfortunatley the Radiator and fan combo is not enough to cool this thing down. I'm hoping to get my new rad and fans in the mail this week from griffin. For what little driving I did with it, I can tell ya it drives pretty good. I'm looking forward to getting the new radiator and fans.

Wish me luck,

~Jim~

I hope you get your cooling situation solved. Really enjoy your build, helped me out alot. So far im not having any problems with my build. My lt1 rediator and fans, with the proform electric water pump are keeping mine pretty cool. Just waiting to get my clutch in and take it for a ride.

Well it's been two years but it's a done deal. I finally got to cruise it around a little this weekend.

After I moved the tranny cooler the cruising temps dropped to 165 - 180 in the cooler weather.

It was a long road but man is it fun to drive. I'm hoping to make it to the track by the end of the month.

Thanks for everyones help and intrest.

No that was not me. I was out but not very far from route 12 in Arlington Heights.

I'm going to try and make it to Rolling Meadows this friday.

The distributor goes in and out very easily.

No plans for fuel injection. Not really a big fan of EFI
