LT!. Better to convert to lt4? or 383 stroker?
i have a stock LT1 95 trans am. Im ready to get some serious work done to it, but im stuck decideing which is better. To swap it to a lt4, or convert it to a 383 stroker. ive heard good and bad things about both. Im trying to get the most power out of it. whats recomended?

if you are going to build a 383 dont waist time and money putting a lt4 combo on it. just look around you will find alot of combos that will make better power and still be very streetable (if thats what you want ?) if you want to keep it stock ci i would still look into something other than a lt4 setup, dont get me wrong they are a good setup, but there is better head's cam combo for the power and the money.

depends on what you want.. you could do a 355, or use your standard bore if possible, use your stock crank, forged rods, and forged pistons..
talk to elliot portworks about a cam and head combo..
and get a mailorder tune.. http://www.lt1pcmtuning.com
do the same if you decide to go with a 383 setup.. i wouldn't recommend using the cast stroker kits though, theyre pretty much junk for the lt1's
my initial build is going to be a 355, stock crank, stock rods, speedpro forged pistons, lt4 hotcam kit(cam, springs, locks, retainers), 1.6 roller rockers, rotating assembly balanced,2500rpm converter, longtube headers, mailorder tune.. i'm gonna be knocking on $3000.. i'm using the lt4 cam kit because i picked it up cheap real cheap.. if not i would have used a cc502 or cc503

Hey:
As stated before it depends on your requirements.
For a lt1/4 383 stroker kit contact www.ohiocrank.com, for a good forged assembly, and use www.elliotsportworks, for heads, cam kit, for the best bang for your money and you assemble the motor.
Or go all out and go with Advanced Inductions (www.advancedInductions.com) 383 kit for a street/strip engine.

Port the heads and go for the cubic inch. I've been able to get 295 cfm out of a ported LT1 casting with a 2.00 intake valve. Just make sure you have a good casting to begin with #374 or #643.
I also have a new pair of bare AFR 220 LT4 castings if you are interested?
