Very easy to be done..
You are going to need the complete LT1 T56 Setup..as in Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure Plate, T56, and all the Hydraulics.
Then the next step would be setting everything up..as in getting the Tranny in..we may have to do a custom Cross Member..marking and cutting the Shifter Hole, installing the Pedals and Hydraulics, and wiring up the Reverse Lights and the Reverse Lockout. For that we will have to do a manual switch since there is no computer in your car that will control it like mine does..no biggie though, it will go in good with all the other switches in there..
You have a 700R4 in there if I remember right so the Drive Shaft wont have to be changed..the T56 and 700R4 are the same length.
Next is the Speedo..your choice of cable or electronic. Stock the T56 is electronic, it can be converted to Cable though.
Here is an example of one here..honestly I wouldn't tear up a Tail Shaft Housing like this..but that's just me..
If it was sent to you already done, or you can send the one off of the Tranny to be done(since it will have to come off anyways), that might be a better option.

It depends on which one is cheaper I guess..maybe you can find and electronic speedo..
Let me know what you think, I'll be back in a few months to help..that and I know how you like wiring..

well its not going to happen very soon but it will happen down the road so if i can start gathering this simple conversion parts now thats really what i am intrested in i still have to make my bench seat into buckets..fun... and build a center console for my current shifter setup that could be modified for the manual down the road... and wiring isnt a problem its the computers themselves... look at all the wiring extras i have added so far..(i really aught to cleen it up ento a manageable harness)

Well keep in mind too where the Shifter is located on these things..waaay in the back.
Don't be suprised if it ends up close to the front of the Seats..remember where it was in Reed's truck?
I'm interested to see what Pedals will go in your car for the Clutch..hopefully someone can chime in..
Ya it is a spider web in there..

Howdy folks, im new to the forum and have a similar situation. I have an 82 Caprice which just received a 350H.O. swap. Ive always detested the 700R4 (grew up on manuals) especially for towing and driving on snow/ice. Looking to swap in a hydraulic clutch manual trans (possibly TKO 600 or T56).
Since the 87 and 82 Caprice are of he same generation, I figured I would ask what you came up with for pedal linkage setup, master cylinders, etc. I sure would appreciate any input seeing as I have next to no experience and am having someone else do the brunt of the work. (I just need to start getting parts)
Thanks!

You can use the F2B kit, you just need to mod it a bit to clear the steering column in a box body. Or if you are creative, you can make your own pedal set, Gerry made a set for his LS7 95 Wagon.
