I'm a hard core BBC fan!

But it seems the BBC is a dirty word on most message boards these days. Mention the BBC and they'll tell you the LSx is the only way and the BBC is junk. Go figure.

Is there a BBC message board somewhere?

You can't beat a BB for torque. Tire shredding power all day.

I just hate it when I don't see a big block built correctly though. I see guys put together combos that make no sense and go to the track in a gutted car to run an 11.30 and they think they are really getting somewhere. Then they see a head and cam ls1 pull off a 10.99 pass and say "he must be spraying it" when it ran on the motor.

With the technology that is out there today a mildly built BBC should be able to run well into the 10's or better in a gutted car on pump gas.

No. Wife was out of work for 50 weeks. 2 house payments, a big truck, child support, all the rest of the bills, trying to catch up now. Have a house for sale so we can get rid of one of the bills. Wife is a bookkeeper, so she made it so we were not late on anything, .

I've heard that all before! I'm swapping in a Vortec 454 into my 1989 K1500 and can't wait until it's done! It should be one hell of a sleeper. I've also got a 1999 C-3500 and it will tow anything.

As of now the truck runs and drives! All I need to do is loom the harness and button up some stuff. I wanted the engine to be relatively stock for the swap. Once the swap is complete I'm going to start getting parts together for a turbo build!

I'll always have respect for the big blocks made by GM throughout the years, they always made great power and torque, and just having one in the engine bay is a beautiful sight.

Maybe I will ask in here, anybody know there total weight of there car. Im sad that nobody felt like sharing there weight. I love big blocks myself, I wont dare say BBC haha. But I really am curious to what guys are running full weight compared to the guys cutting weight. Just looking to hear some numbers.

What headers are those and do you have the part # for them? I have searched for a set of headers for my buddy's 1997 BB dually couldn't find any.

They are Hooker Competition headers for the Silverados with the TBI 454. I think the years were 1990-1995. Hooker's part number for them is 2461HKR. They are the cheaper Hooker LTs but they are only temporary for me until I build my turbo/twin turbo setup.

They should work fine on a 2WD truck, 4WD trucks will take a little modification. On the 4WD Vortec 454s there is a 90° oil filter re-locater. This 90° re-locater needs to be removed to run LT headers. Unfortunately, if you try to install your filter straight to the block it won't clear the front driveline. This problem can be fixed by using a remote mount oil filter kit. I would imagine that any of the LT headers for a BB 1990-1995 Silverado would fit if you were to relocate the oil filter.

Here's a picture of my filter relocation kit, front differential and headers. I don't have a driveline to install yet but I know it will clear.

Oh yeah, one last thing; I also welded on new O2 bungs after the collectors. The O2 bungs that originally came welded onto the headers were only reading one cylinder on each bank.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, I've probably got pictures of every square inch of that truck and can post them up if you like.
