Sounds like its going to be a really nice set up. I want to see what you are going to do for an air filter with such a tall intake manifold. Cant wait for the build pics.... :-)

nice build, but i would definitaly get rid of those jegs rockers.

Ran them on a 383 and a bunch of them were destroyed.

Best bet is to try and find some harland sharp shaft mount rockers, that's what i'm going with on my 434 sbc.

that top end looks familiar to, same thing i'm going with as well, dart 230's with a little more massaging in the ports, 274-282 @ lift, .630 solid roller cam on 108 lsa. i'm a big fan of the dart stuff, done me well in the past.

Looks pretty slick.

I wouldn't worry to much about the tall manifold. I'm running a tall brodix manifold and a Holley 1050 dominator under my 3" cowl.

I'm guessing with this type of setup you would be running a non stock hood as well.

Yea i figured that the stock hood wouldn't work with this setup. Im not too sure what hood im going to go with. Ima take a look at the height once the engine is assembled and installed. The bottom end is going to take 6-8 weeks to build so its going to be a while until i have some engine build pics, but i'll post pics of everything in the mean time. thanx for the interest.

That seems like way too much head for a 355 with that cam...or not enough cam. It should run real strong, but you might be leaving some on the table. Those heads on a 406-434 sound about right.

those heads dont flow worth a damn outta the box... A bowl-blend, trim the guide boss down, and LAY THE SHORT SIDE RADIUS bacK, will DO WONDERS! also open up the pushrod pinch.. all of this will bring a 265cfm head to well over 300cfm...

couldn't you just run the stock intake (ported)?. since you are converting from lt1, couldn't you could run the lt1 intake and fuel injection and for ignition tap the manifold in back for a distributor. that in my mind could be best of both worlds maybe? you eliminate opti, you go sbc gen 1 and you keep lt1 computer fuel, etc... don't know...sharing some thoughts...

A 110 gph pump probably won't keep up with the rpms you'll need to turn the motor to run those heads on a 355.

Im still waiting for the bottom end to come in, doing some wiring in the mean time. Ready to get it going so i can post some more pics, and get some dyno numbers. What im going to do is bolt the heads and intake on right out of the box, break in the engine, and then go and have the car dynoed. Then im going to take the heads and intake back off and send them to Meaux Racing and have him port the heads and intake, then redyno the car and see the difference. I'm curious to see the difference.

Larry Meaux is an AWESOME Head Porter. If u do that, this car is gonna straight rock n roll!!!. mid ten at 125+... its gonna want a lot more cam and RPM... you really need to turn it close to 8000.
