Need advice...BBC or big LSx?
Thanks for any advice... Car will be a 6 speed car also hopefully if it can mate up to a BBC
BBC won't be cheap by any means, LSx came in these cars so wiring, tuning, custom parts will be a lot less and unless you plan to go BIG an LSx will make approx. the same power.
BBC Pro
pretty easy to work on and make great power.
Assuming carb, then really easy to tune
Wide avaliability of parts
Allows you to clean up the engine bay (that was important to me when I swapped to a SBC)
BBC Cons
Probably going to lose your AC and Heat
Could have a significant cost in converting shocks, springs K-member, headers, fuel lines, gauges
Probably going to lose your windshield wipers
Custom headers or reworked Hooker headers
LSX Pro
Aluminum block
Low investment to power ratio (best way to write that)
Drops right in (for the most part)
Really good aftermarket
LSX Cons
EFI (I personally hate it)
Nasty looking engine bay (sorry that really bugs me)
smaller displacment (when compared to BBC)
That should give you some ideas to at least start thinking about it. I love the Gen I stuff so I swapped but an LSX probably makes the most sense.
Good luck
~Jim~
