400 crank shaved ?!
I opened the oil pan off my 383ci and I noticed the crank is shaved at first I thought its normal but I dont think its normal I think the previous owner shaved it or something I toke pictures of the shaved area
is that normal? the engine was running before I take it off no issues with the short block only had problems with valves they were not fully closed and caused backfires thru carb but it was revving smooth should I complete the engine and run it or take off the crank and put 350 crank and thats it ?

NO you r fine. I use to cut .500" off the counterwieghts of cranks. Lighter and less windage and in some cases u have to to balance it properly. My 383 in my 86 camaro in my sig has .500" cut off the wieghts. My counterwieghts are all perfectly round and weighs about 5lbs less.

I will build another 350 with .060 pistons and use the E-tec 200 heads and will keep the 383 in store or put the L98 aluminum heads on the 383 and use it in another car what do you think guys ?
