Default ? about engine blocks

i was wanting to know what blocks i could use in an ls body camaro. like could i take a block that came in an 80's pickup up truck build it and put it in a ls camaro or what block can i get to work cause my car is my DD and i wanna build another motor over time and cause i dont have the time or money to just jerk mine out rebuild it and put it back in cause of funds and my work and i dont have the money to go out and just buy a good ls1 and swap since i dont have time. any help on this would be much appreciated

Hey:

Buy a 02+ truck or van engine from ebay or local bone yard that will guarantee it to be good, that way you can use the same headers and acc stuff, plus they can be found pretty cheap around here at least. Good Luck on your search.

^ ok that works cause i didnt know if the blocks were the same but they just went from iron blocks to aluminum blocks but ill check into to that up around here in the great NC

Any older small block will work, but budget wise a carbed LS engine will run better cheaper.

^ that would be nice but i wanna take and get a motor and build it and put in my car or build one and find like a V6 car and turn it into a drag car for the weekends but im leaning towards just getting another motor and build it a lil bit and swap into my car since mine is a DD and i cant just park it then start the break down of the car
