572 dyno vs. car timing
Put my new engine on the dyno and using the box he had on the engine dyno a digital 7 plus and i have a digital 6 in my car. We had the timing at 35 advance on the dyno and whenever i put it in my car and checked it, there was a 6 degree difference. I am running a crank trigger. I didn't know if thats a big difference or if this is common.

Yes it is common to have a difference between ign boxes an different systems. Thats why when I dyno engines I tell guys to recheck timing. Not always sure if its as much as 6 degrees but there can be a difference. Also goes the same with timing lights. Stay away from digital lights an try to use the same light. Don't borrow different ones from different people. Buy your own an use it.

I actually popped a head gasket from that very issue. We had mine dialed in on the dyno at 31*, I put it in the car and didn't check it and went playing...well after a couple passes it started rattling and lost a cyl. Sure enough, when checking the timing in the car is was 42*......
Dyno = 7AL
Car = 6AL
11* difference...
Good thing you checked yours....
