Default Distributor Not seating problem

I've been building this 357 for a couple months now and I've come to the intake/distributor/carb part. I can't seem to get the distributor to fully seat on the intake. It seemed like it went down just fine before I put the oil pump driveshaft in. Now it's looking alittle over 1/4 inch to tall above the intake. Do you think it's the driveshaft? Or make a shorter one? The intake is just like a victor jr

What I used to do is turn the engine over, the cam will drive the dist gear and it'll drop when the oil pump drive slot lines up.
Then I'd bring it back to TDC and make sure #1 still points where you want it to.

Yea I had the same problem I just stuck a long flathead screwdriver in the hole and turned the oil pump drive about an 1/8 inch or so to make it drop in instead of turnin the engine by hand.
