Starting New engine - suggestions
This weekend I will be starting my ERL 427 for the first time. I want suggestions. This is where i am right now - crank over about 15 seconds to oil engine. Start.Watch oil pressure closely and watch for leaks. I have solid lifters so I am guessing I should listenj for any lifter chatter. ??? Anything else to offer me so I do not destroy it. Thanks, Mike.

My car is somewhat radical and can be seen in this post. https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...-ls2-pics.html
It ran before with an iron LSX block in 402ci. The only changes would be with the engine size and injectors from 95# to 235#. I am going to reduce the injector pulse width if it runs too poorly, but I know very little about tuning. I also have a new intake and throttle body and I blocked off the idle air control so I am guessing I will control it with the TB blade. ????

I hope you're starting it for the first time on a dyno.....and getting it tuned immediately. Then 4-5 progressively harder runs then an all out one. Thats proper engine break-in.
Just starting a brand new engine to let it sit and run is bad.
