Default need oil cooler hose and AN fitting recommendation

i need to replace the oil cooler lines on my truck, they are leaking, 8.1L/496. Instead of buying 2 replacements which would cost less than $100 and most likely leak again at the factory crimps, I was thinking of using AN fittings and some hose rated for 300F and 100+ psi. I started pricing it out on summit and seems to be expensive. I have to look again but the oil cooler's piping seemed very thin, it was also rusty. So I'm thinking of replacing the oil cooler with a B&M or earl's which has either -12AN fittings or 1/2" NPT fittings. The engine block has 1/2 NPT and was thinking of doing 1/2NPT-to-12AN adapter. Any recommendations on the hose I should get, and brand of fittings?
I also want to make a 6" piece of hose that I can just connect the oil cooler ports at the block together and delete the cooler.
