Could be anything (leaking head gasket, leaking valve etc...).. but if you shoot some oil in it and the compression RISES its a bottom end problem.

This is your basic leakdown tester. It lets you know how much percentage your cylinder is leaking:

Not a really big fan of the way they have it set up. I got one from Harbor Freight that was set up like the Jegs one, tried to use it once and took it back and got a refund.
