Hey guys I am posting this for my son who wants to do a junkyard build. Is it possible to make his 5.8 Vortec into an LS and if so what all is he going to need? I am no help because I am old school and in my day a liter was just coming on the American scene and we were fighting it. lol Any real help would be appreciated.

 

A 5.7 vortec is a older generation I designed small block originating from 1955, the gen III sbc is a LS platform as well as the gen IV. That started in 97 in the Vette, 98 in the camaro/firebird and 99 up Chevy trucks. Your parts are not anywhere near the same. Lifters and rod bearings are the only thing that interchange.

So, from there, you have a ton of reading to do on this site, good luck!
