Everyone I asked or talked to about the 8.8 rear said I would want it narrowed or my tires and wheels would be way out past my fender wells.

It may depend what it comes out of, as it was used in many vehicles. Offset wheels may be all you need to avert that little disaster.

My wheels stick out on my s10, because the guys at s10forum don't know how to use a tape measure. They said 4" wider, so I got wheels that barely didn't rub the inside so when I got the rear in they would fit perfect. Put them on and measured a spare, it was 5.5" wider. Idiots.

So, instead of a 15x8 and 6.5 BS, I should have went deeper. So, a set of 4 gen wheels will fit the rear perfect and I'll get some adapters for the front. If I keep the truck. Really wanting a 4th gen hard top 6 speed LS1 car.

just to set the record straight for everyone, even though it really doesnt matter.......

7.625" axles were introduced in 1993. they were not put in anything made before that year.

I had a 2.73 7.5 hold 400 to the ground with a 383, the thick ring gear and radials kept it alive as well as a stock clutch disc with centerforce pressure plate.
It has stock 3.73's in it.

Then again, so far, so good... hope it never breaks.
I have a built 8.5in 10bolt from a Grand National to go in, just haven't found the time to get it in.
