383 vortec heads question

I just bought some used, rebuilt vortec heads. Going to be putting them on for my first engine build. Just had a question about them: they were pretty dirty and soaked in oil, so what should I clean the heads with? I have a powerful solvent that could clean it up with ease, but I'm not sure if that would hurt the heads. I can post pictures of necessary. Any help is appreciated.

Vortec heads are crack prone. Were they rebuilt professionally? If not you need to. Otherwise I use castrol degreaser.

Yes rebuilt professionally with pink rods. I can use the degreaser for the springs and everything internal?

I would only do that if it was completely apart so it could be cleaned.

I just took it all apart. Plan on sandblasting and tanking it then re assembling. Thanks

Once cleaned magnafluxing is a great idea to make sure your heads are still sound. Fresh springs a huge plus....they are cheap
