Default Want some ideas for a 1999 BBC Vortec

I recently acquired a complete 1999 suburban with a 454/4L80E. As most here know it is compatible with HPtuners. I am thinking of throwing it in something big bodied with a cam and headers. I don't want to go crazy with head porting, injector swaps, etc. I am wondering where to locate a decnet cam that will work with the stock roller lifters and if the computer is easy enough to tune like my f bodies? I would just like some decent rumble and some low/ mid range power. I have been out of the BBC game for a long time. Thanks in advance.

I had a 2000 model 3500 old body style truck. Was a single cab LWB with the 454/4ll80 my father ordered new.If it has a hard start like most,it will need a new FP reg(it's a PITA to get to)

Mods were:

30# SVO red tops
Hooker LT headers
EGR delete
Volant CAI
80mm TB
Screamin Demon ign mod/coil
MSD wires
Plugs gapped at .45
Dual 2.5" exhaust with flownasters and H pipe
Dual electric fans
160 thermostat
March UD pulleys
HP tuners dyno tune

Are you ready for the big HP numbers??

245hp and 385tq at the rear wheels...kind of weak.

This was one of the most full modded 454 Vortecs I could find on any forum too.

Gas mileage was around 14-15 if you kept your foot out of it.

The cam is really a limiting factor in the 454 Vortecs. It did drive pretty good and it towed well(still not as good as my Cummins but it has over 1000tq at the wheels)

I sold the truck on eBay to a guy from up North for $4800. Wish I would've kept it but u can only drive so many vehicles!

And my truck had the 4.10 rear and HD cooling package with the high output alternator.

I was planning on a custom cam and ported 049 heads and intake. I had all the parts and was ready to do the swap and said f it and sold the parts and truck.

If I was going to do a cam,I'd add all the bolt on's that I had above.

The zz502 is a nice cam and will prob get u around 325hp/450tq at the rear wheels with all the supporting upgrades.

Stock injectors are 19# and are known to leak, that's why I swapped. I'd highly doubt yours are all good unless the truck is super low mileage.
