Low compression motor and power capability
I have been looking at building my BBC and was wondering how limiting low compression (8:1?) is going to be as far as making power. The car made ~300whp on a Mustang dyno and Id like to see ~450whp with a better cam/heads/intake on the stock bottom end.
Is this a reasonable goal?

I guess nobody does bolt ons and everyone just makes a 468/496?

I'm guessing it is a later model emissions motor with open chamber heads?
Swapping to a good head with a smaller chamber will result in a good bump in compression. The airflow characteristics will be better as well. Heads and cam selection will make all the difference

Its a 1973 454 with 049 oval port heads.
I was thinking about AFR 265 ovals, Victor Jr and a Comp XR300HR Hydraulic Roller cam.
