Default Please help.

I have a 99 chevy silverado 5.3L rear wheel drive extended cab.when changing my head gasket I snapped a hea bolt off 3 inches deep on the block.i have try to drill it out but have had no luck getting it out.please if anyone has any advice other than I'm screwed or get a new block please help me.

There is a post up about this in the Gen 3 internal engine thread about half way down. I believe the general consensus was to apply pressure to the broken portion of the bolt with the other broken portion (top) and try and turn it out slowly. There were some good tricks. I'll try and copy and paste link for you here.

Yes please do.i have drilled and drilled but I dont think I'm in the center and why the easy outside I have set up to reach it wont work.its been a pain for 3 days.done lost my job and still sitting in my engine compartment.

I think getting a straight line on it might be my only option at this point.just dont know how to get the straight line on it that deep to use a flat head screwdriver.

Take another bolt same size, and drill it in the center on the work bench. Then insert it into the broken stud part of the block and use it as a guide.
