Engine Deck Ding.
I'm working on a Buick 430 engine. Upon removal of the heads, I noticed a ding in the very top of one of the cylinders. It's high enough above the travel of the engine so i'm not worried about the inside of the cylinder, but it pushed up on the deck slightly. Is this going to be a problem? The owner doesn't want to get it decked. I'm rebuilding it because the head gaskets were blown. I'm thinking this might have been the cause. Any thoughts?
I appreciate all input.
Thanks,
AJ
It depends where it is. If its inside the fire ring and less than the head gasket compression thickness, don't worry bout it. If not then i'd careful flatten it but don't make it a divot
