Or may I ask what should be my next step? All this I will point out to the builder, my main concern was it a miscalculation or an fortuitous event? Will the motor have to extracted?

Motor doesn't have to be pulled to fix this.

Wait,, I just noticed this,, are those rockers Powdercoated?? WTH..
The beating and flex a rocker takes powder coating would be a really bad Idea (My opinion) It flakes too easy.

Also if you look at the pics that are straight down into the head, there is almost NO oil down below the springs, even in the head bolt pockets, if its been run there should be something.. Shouldn't there?

I would toss that bugger straight back to the builder, and make him check it, if you go deeper without him laying hands on it I would not be surprised if he throws the "I didn't ouch it last" card on the table.

FWIW the builder I work with attends just about every first start on a custom engine even if he has to drive to the customers house.. On our sprint motors he would come to the track and check things between sessions. (He is a pretty good guy and likes racing he started out in Winston cup as a #2 motor guy for a team. )

No I’m not digging any further without his eyes and hands on deck. It is a wait game now. He was suppose to show up today, but He didn’t show up. Called his shop he left word he would stop by tomorrow. But I do have enough ammunition in the clip speaking to some very knowledgeable people on this sight.

Just a back up.,,, but anyone know of any builders in Miami. I know in Palm beach (Riviera Beach) there is TEC I grew up hearing about them when I lived up that way. I actually asked Mike to do work on my motor, but he said he only builds hot rods and he was not the guy for what I wanted done. Then I bought my heads from Revenge power in Broward County. Don’t know the Father though just met the son Dalton. Heard they do some pretty decent work.

[QUOTE=69-chvl;20400283]Any updates?

oh yes, yesterday evening I finished up the new installs. The issue was really the valve covers. The builder went through the motor and informed me that the issue was in fact the valve covers,.. way too small. He even showed me that where the rockers were hitting the protruded rivets on the valve cover. Can’t believe I didn’t see that. I thought that were grinder down for fitment, but he informed me that he did not grind them at all. No other issues was identified with the valve train. I bought some Holley tall height valve covers from Summit. Only thing was went I put them on, the ignition coil bracket did not fit. Holley suggests ditching the bracket and do a ignition coil mount directly on the valve covers. That didn’t work either because the coils are D585 and didnt fit at all. So I had to go in the lab an fabricate a set of brackets. Good thing I have a light metal shop in my back yard for forging and welding. But I got the job done. Thank God. Oil change, look through the filter, all was good. Slapped it on and she was without a tap a knock or a bump. Idle sounds clean and more pronounced rumble in the chop. I wish I could post some pics. But thank you to all on this forum for assisting with knowledge and my anxiety.

so next I will be posting transmission upgrade questions and turbo options. And what needs to be changed in the valve train to achieve 550 WHP.
