Default HELP!!!! Have a vacuum problem

So I have a 1974 camaro with a 350 and a th350 transmission. I took put the AC. there was a large canister sitting on the other side of where the battery goes in the engine bay and I dont know where that is or what went to it. My guess is this hose that isn't connected to anything else went to it. Seems to be the brakes. I do not have any brakes and my transmission won't go into drive or reverse. Can someone give me some help with where this stuff goes? New to carb motors.

This is where the canister used to go, as well as where the hose is that used to attach to it

The carb has a small fittong to hook a hose to. I heard this is where then trans line goes to, but mine is hooked to my intake manifold in the back of the carb. The brake.boosyer is hooked to the back of the carb.

Here is a larger picture

That line is most lively your evap canister(emissions) that you removed. Since you think it goes to the brakes, then I'll assume it's the gas tank end(usually a metal line). Any line that goes to the carb or intake manifold from that area needs to be plugged.

That braided covered rubber line from the rear of the carb to your brake booster could be leaking or the booster itself could be bad Or you could just have a brake leak somewhere like maybe a rear drum wheel cylinder. Could be a million things but I'd start by checking for a vac leak at the line & booster. The plastic piece or grommet that goes into the booster sometimes fails.

A TH350 turbo trans has a vac modulator by the tailshaft, still this would not cause an issue going into drive or reverse check your shifter linkage & fluid level.

So the transmission is good now. Didn't have anything to do with vacuum issues, except it won't move in D. Only in 1 or 2. Could be a linkage issue...

As for the brakes, they dont work at all.. no fluid is going to the back brakes,, and the front has fluid, changed the calipers too, but pedal goes all the way down and feels a little spongy. No braking whatsoever. How do I tell if the master cylinder or the booster is bad? There doesn't seem to be anything leaking out anywhere.

Check hoses or brake line. Gravity bleed brake system and see if fluid come out. There air in brake system and don't attempt to drive car.
