Back in the day, I know there was a LS6 engine(427 i believe making 425), a LT1 engine(60's or 70's corvette), and i think even an LS7, but what was the original LS1.

I was fairly sure there was a 60's LS1. And the LS6 started in 69 i believe.

LT-1 made it debut in the 70 Corvette.

It was also dropped in 70 Novas under a COPO order, and in Z28.

I believe the last LT-1s were built in 72.

For the 70-72 350 it is LT-1 (note the hyphen). The LT1 is that wonderful (and most powerful stock chevy small block until the LS1) Gen II small block from 92-97.

Correction, it's 390 HP. I just checked the plaque in my Father's 1970 Stingray.

My 72' Corvette's engine is actually an LS5 out of a 70' Chevelle. When I looked up the rating though, I believe it was 370 hp.

I thought LT-1 production started in 1968 or 1969 and was over in 1972. Could be wrong on that, but I remember a friend of mine owning an original 69 LT-1 Vette.

I could have sworn the LT1 made an appearance in the late 60's vette.

The LT-1 made its debut as an optional engine in the 1970 Corvette. It was also found in the 70 1/2 Camaro. The production run was 1970-1972.
